Late to the Party
So I am learning that google has neato apis. I can take this URL:
and I can make a graph like that.
Doom and Gloom
Neat article on surviving the possible downside: http://www.wikihow.com/Apply-Lessons-Learned-from-the-Great-Depression
MIPS/Mhz Revisited
Looking around at graphics packages I found RichChartLive. Using their online graph generator I made this:
It’s prettier with dynamic flash but can’t figure out how to embed that (actually it’s not allowed). Converting this to AVI is beyond my meager abilities.
And now, with new and improved super califraj data on data video action:
Brevity in Everything
Neat page at http://bookoutlines.pbwiki.com/ shows succinct summaries of popular books such as:
- Predictably Irrational about consumer driven choices.
- Winning Through Intimidation a book about being over prepared
and many others.
A neat find.
Strangest Secret
It’s neat.
Christmas
And so this is Christmas. A good time at the fancy chuch. 3 Bad beats at the poker place. A day bereft of TV except for Law and Order and Charlotte Gray.
Drank more water; 3×2 at cards, 2×2 before, 3×3 after. 8×2 = 16 glasses of water where glass = cup.
Did hit the lowest weight of the last 3 years this morning. Tres bien.
This weekend I intend to recycle the yucky Mac Workstation Pro into a useful PC, and make some good plans. Would be useful to clean out old office, and work on super-secret-graph project.
I tried to find a company that would lease a mac server, either a mini, or an xserve, etc.. Didn’t find one. Do you know of one?
Cat Dancers
Saw an interesting show on HBO2 called “Cat Dancers”.
About a 70 year old guy, who in his life had a love, was a ballet dancer, and raised wild cats and did a traveling Sigfried and Roy-esque show.
Not to give away the whole documentary, but ultimately they add a 3rd young man to their relationship, and adopt an inbred white tiger.
The white tiger ultimately killed the woman he loves after killing the young man they both loved.
Although the guy was kinda creepy, I gotta tell you, this show represented some aspects of life that are dark and dismal. A real raw and primal film. Not sure I liked it but I respect it.
If you can’t say anything nice….
I remember an easter present from my mother. I would have sworn it was Peter Cottontail, and the character said:
If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
Now how profound is that? Dale Carnegie would be proud.
So I’m trying to remember if around 1978 there was a Peter Cottontail record, or if I got a thumper record.
Apparently this quote is most attributed to Thumper, from Bambi http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034492/quotes .
Now I do remember Mr. Cottontail as so:

Now Thumper is much different, as follows:

That’s my recollection of saying nice things. Thumper and/or Peter Cottontail. I wonder how Dale Carnegie thought about this.
